- Check in for volunteers and students
- Directing volunteers and students
- Overseeing the flow of sessions
- Timing competitions

You can sign up for as many sessions as you have time to support. If you need to adjust the time from what is on the schedule (for example, you can come from 7am-11am, instead of the 7am-12pm listed) please just email [email protected] so I know your plans.

Student Workshop: The Stock Pitch Sprint: Learn How to Analyze a Stock

This workshop is for students who are NOT participating in the stock pitch competition. This workshop is good preparation for a student who is beyond the beginner level but is not yet ready for the stock pitch competition. If you want to dive into stocks and be prepared for the stock pitch competition next year, this is the workshop for you!

Before the workshop, students will receive pre-selected stocks to explore. When they arrive, they’ll put on their “investor hats” and decide whether each stock is a Buy, Sell, or Hold—and why. Students can compete solo or team up with friends to build their case.

Using only publicly available information (company news, financials, trends, or anything else they can find), students will defend their picks in short, fast-paced discussions. Expect lively debate, different perspectives, and plenty of “Would you actually invest in that?” moments.

The goal is to make investing feel approachable and exciting while giving students a taste of how real investors—and stock pitch competitors—think, analyze, and persuade.

We will have a prep meeting in May for stock pitch judges.

Please plan to arrive by 8:30am to find your room and be prepared to judge beginning at 9:00am.

You will have 2-3 judges per room and you will see 5 teams present in this block. Each team will have 15 minutes to present, you will have 5 minutes for question/answers, and then 5 minutes to give feedback to the team. You will score each team based on a rubric we provide. You may judge a single session, or you can sign up for multiple sessions (morning and afternoon Thursday for Round 1, plus Round 2 on Friday). Thank you!

Please arrive by 10am so you are ready to start judging at 10:30am.

This is a fast-paced competition for top YIS students. They form teams on site, then are given a business problem. They have 1 hour to work with their team on a proposed solution. Then they will have 3 minutes to present their proposal to judges (you!).

You will see 5 teams present. You will have 5 minutes with each team to ask questions. Then you will score and rank those teams based on a provided rubric.

You will not need to prep as a judge, but we will send out the case beforehand.

This session will build off of the Beginner's Guide to Investing on Thursday, but you are not required have attend Thursday to register for Friday. You can do one, the other, or both.

The spotlight will be on the top 5 teams as they present in the Final Round of the Global Stock Pitch Competition, competing for the grand prize of $5,000. Watch as these standout students deliver their investment theses, defend their ideas to a panel of judges, and showcase everything they’ve learned throughout the event.

In addition to the competition, we’ll welcome a special keynote speaker who will share insights on leadership, investing, and building a successful future in finance.

We’ll wrap up with a final thank you, reflections on the event, and a proper send-off to celebrate all that you’ve accomplished at GYIS.
